Receptacle Twist
Is a 20 amp 250 volt twist n lock receptacle on our pool pump?
We just had an above ground swimming pool installed that came with a cartridge pool pump & filter, the plug on it calls for a twist & lock receptacle 20 amp at least 110 volt. We went to the local Home Depot & Lowes & purchased a 20 amp 250 volt receptacle twist & lock. When we got home by husband worried about a ground fault & apparently this doesn’t have one of those on it. We searched internet & don’t see any twist & lock plugs that do have it. Are we missing something? Did we get the right item ? He is just worried that if a fire got started or pump overheats then since there isn’t a ground fault on the receptacle then nothing would shut off. I am not the electrician type but I think he is over thinking things myself LOL any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks !!
The breaker keeps stuff from burning up not the GFI. A GFI is there to protect a person from shock. It cuts out before you can get killed. The plug won’t have such built in it. You can put one in a outside box or buy the breaker that has one in it to put in your source panel. What you have is workable . The configuration goes with the amps and voltage. If there is nothing else around or even close to this configuration you could use it or go to a electrical place and get a similar right on would be better.
