What does a crystal’s load capacitance value mean?
I’m considering buying this crystal from Digi-Key for a microcontroller project:

I’m not sure what the “Load Capacitance” (stated on Digi-Key’s website as 20pF) means, though. Does it represent the value of the capacitors that go from each side of the crystal to GND?

There are two basic different kinds of crystals, parallel and series resonance, the capacitance value means that the crystal is a paralell resonant crystal that need a 20pF capacitor in shunt so it will resonate at the given frequency , usually you would use a variable cap to adjust the frequency if needed
