REPLACEMENT FUSE FOR FRN-15 BUSSMANN?
I have a washer and dryer hooked up to an old fuse box and one of the fuses went on me? there are 3 total fuses set up. The # on the fuse is frn-15 but I went to 4 different places and could not locate this #. This fuse has not been replaced in about 7 years so I am not even sure if they still make them. I did find a BP/NON-15 fuse which looks exactly like the FRN-15 and it seemed to work but I just wanted to check and see if this was ok to replace it?
yes I have a main circut breaker panel but for some reason the washer & dryer are on this fuse box. I plan on having it redonne but in the meanwhile I wanted to make sure this new fuse was ok. Thanks
I agree this cartridge fuse should work just fine. What has happened is the small panel was added for the washer and dryer some years ago. One fuse is for the washer and the other two are for the dryer. There is nothing wrong with continuing to use this panel if it was wired in correctly and has a ground, although if it is missing a ground you might want to consider upgrading it sometime in the future. Sounds like they upgraded the main fuse box to circuit breakers but didn’t upgrade this fuse box. You might have to pull new wire to it, or better yet, just eliminate it by putting the proper breakers in the main breaker box.
