By looking at this page:
http://www.ia.omron.com/product/family/2064/index_fea.html
It shows a USB connection to connect to your computer.
Further down on the page it shows the either net connection. it shows going thru a industrial switching hub.
If you want to connect directly to the plc, you have to have a crossover cable, or run the either net cable thru a router. A direct cable will not communicate properly, with out being a crossover cable.
On this page
http://industrial.omron.co.uk/en/products/catalogue/automation_systems/programmable_logic_controllers/compact_plc_series/cp1e/default.html
To the bottom of the page click on downloads > Manuals , you can open a communication manual.
When I have to connect to a plc, I will always open the cmd on the computer and ping the plc to verify the connection, before trying communicating with it.
I hope this helps
