Shunt Breaker
What is a Shunt breaker and what is it use for in electrical design?
What makes a Shunt breaker different from a regular breaker that is the same size?
Shunt Breaker does what? What can you use it for. Where is it used. Where do I look?
A shunt breaker is used to minimize the arcing damage to main line breakers. The larger AQB (Air Quenching Breaker) or ACB (Air Circuit Breakers) utilize shunt breakers. They close just before and open just after the main-line breakers. They cause the arc to draw out as well as are sacrificial contacts.
